322 Squadron – F-35 Office and Simulator building
On behalf of the Defense organization, Protec Industrial Doors, in collaboration with the Central Government Real Estate Agency and Friso Bouwgroep, advised, designed and ultimately realized various safety solutions during the various construction phases.
The project was realized at Leeuwarden Air Base for The Royal Netherlands Air Force. Due to the very high safety requirements, these doors have several safety features. The security gates have a high resistance class, a high STC (sound transmission class) sound insulation and an electromagnetic shielding (EMD) for blocking various radiations. In addition, we also looked at integrating these doors into the building design so that the architectural interpretation fits the design.
The new office and teaching building is used for training the fighter pilots and planning operations with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, also known as the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).
