The Royal Arena – Copenhagen
The Royal Arena in Copenhagen was built to promote sports, culture, music, the city’s life and its economic growth. This requires flexibility and multi-functionality. The Arena therefore has to be capable of hosting music concerts, sports and cultural events. For sports events, the Royal Arena has capacity of 12,500 seats. For musical and cultural events, the Arena has the capacity for approx. 17,000 seats/stand pitches. The arena will cover an area of up to 35,000 m2 in size, with large foyer areas and space for cafés, restaurants and bars, also there are service areas for performing artists, athletes and arena service functions. All this provide ample space for the audience.
The Copenhagen Arena design respects two main principles: protecting the environment against noise and creating world-class acoustics within the arena bowl. In order to meet these two acoustic requirements, as well as to promote multi-functionality, the aim was to improve the quality of both sports and music events. This has been achieved by using, for example: high-quality acoustic wall coverings, upholstered seats for added comfort and optimum acoustics, and by soundproofing the overhead Protec Industrial Doors.
The acoustic doors from Protec Industrial Doors contribute to the overall acoustics in the arena, and meet the acoustic requirements of the project team in compliance with the European Standard EN-ISO 10140-3. In addition to contributing towards the acoustic experience, Protec Industrial Doors also contribute towards the fire safety of the Royal Arena. A number of the doors supplied are both acoustically insulating and fire resistant. These doors are tested as a single door and have been certified on both properties, to both European standards.
