The accolade of the city theatre and arts centre De Kom is sometimes used literally as an element that provides direction and content within the theatre’s house style, and sometimes more as a colourful and shapely style element. This creates a house style in which shape and content support one another. To conform to this character, Protec developed special acoustic overhead doors that fit in perfectly with the architect’s house style, but that also meet all requirements with regard to acoustics. On the outside you can see a special door, which is absolutely identical to the rest of the glass façade. Both the façade and the door are fitted with LED lighting, to give them a unique effect. Various sound-absorbing and fire-resistant doors have also been used inside the theatre. The city theatre and arts centre De Kom aims to introduce people to well-known and unknown theatre talent, and to bring people in touch with their talent and their passion. The new theatre will have two auditoriums, a large auditorium with 650 seats and a small auditorium with a sliding gallery providing 200 seats.
