Bullet resistance
More and more often, buildings and/or certain rooms in buildings must be able to withstand ballistic projectiles. Doors are a key link in the resistance of these buildings and rooms.
Protec Industrial Doors has developed doors that provide protection against the use of firearms. These doors are tested and certified based on the European EN1522 & EN1523 standards. These standards have various classifications regarding bullet resistance. Each class has its own requirements and basic assumptions regarding the use of the firearm, the type of bullet and the distance from where it can be fired. If no splinters can be seen in the door after firing, the code NS is also added to that particular class for the door. Doors can provide bullet resistance with the classifications FB1 to FB7.
The bulletproof overhead doors, hinged doors and sliding doors of Protec Industrial Doors are available in various versions, including a version with a bullet-resistance classification of FB7, the highest class according to EN1523-1.
Apart from bulletproof overhead doors, sliding doors and hinged doors in accordance with the aforementioned European standards, Protec Industrial Doors also offers you the opportunity to have your door tested in accordance with requirements and standards applicable to your project. One example of this is explicitly providing resistance to firing a Kalashnikov, the most widely used firearm in the world.
The bulletproof doors of Protec Industrial Doors are already used in many sectors. A few examples are: government buildings, security transport companies, utility companies, data centres, buildings in high-risk areas, etc. The experience of our consultants in these projects and our knowledge of the doors, standards and classifications enable us to act as a specialised discussion partner for your building team, to provide advice and take care of all the details.
Total security solution
It is possible to combine the bulletproof door solutions with other properties, whilst retaining the certification. A bulletproof overhead door, for example, can be fitted with acoustic insulation and given fire-resistant properties.
Bullet resistance is only part of your security strategy. Your security will often require a combination of specifications. Examples include the prevention of forced entry, fire resistance, explosion resistance and other possible requirements. The possibility of combining all the properties into a single certified door allows Protec Industrial Doors to offer you a total project solution in the field of security.
