Bulletproof doors
For bullet resistance, the European EN1522 & EN1523 standards are implemented in most European countries. The EN1522 standard describes the requirements and classifications in case an element such as a window, hatch or door is tested in accordance with the European EN1523 standard.
The standard can be applied to attacks using handguns, rifles and shotguns. These weapons fire different calibres of bullets, from different distances and under different angles. All conditions, such as calibres, distances and weapon types, are laid down in the bullet resistance standards.
Classifications
All conditions for testing are linked to different classifications: FB1 to FB7, in which FB1 is the lowest and FB7 is the highest classification.
If splinters are formed when testing, the letter S is added to the classification. If no splinters are formed, the letters NS are added to the classification. Therefore, the highest bullet resistance classification under which a door can be certified is FB7-NS.
